Our Location at Middlemore Hospital

MMCT is located within the Middlemore Hospital campus which is one of New Zealand's largest hospitals.

We are on the Middlemore Hospital campus

MMCT is based on the campus of Middlemore Hospital, which is one of the largest tertiary hospitals in New Zealand, servicing approximately 90,000 inpatients per year and 500,000 outpatient visits. As such, MMCT has access to a large number of potential trial participants. This coupled with MMCT's relationships with community based Primary Healthcare Organisations (PHOs) means that MMCT connects with participants at multiple points along their treatment journey in the health care system. See Map below.

NEARBY HOSPITAL UNITS INCLUDE:

  • The Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit
  • The National Burns Centre.
  • Paediatric Hospital (Kidz First)
  • Accident and emergency department and fully integrated ICU
  • Advanced cardiac care unit.

 High unmet burden of disease

MMCT is based in a region of New Zealand that is very ethnically diverse but is unfortunately socio-economically disadvantaged. The community is over-represented in most chronic diseases and has a high burden of disease especially in cancer, diabetes, lung disease and transmissible infections.

We believe through a strong clinical trial pipeline we can offer our community access to leading edge technology that can improve patient outcomes both for them, and future generations.
