Ian Town (Chief Science Advisor, Ministry of Health) visits Middlemore Clinical Trials

Yesterday, Ian Town (Chief Science Advisor, Ministry of Health) visited Middlemore Clinical Trials and presented at Middlemore Hospital’s Grand Round on the New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017 – 2027. Ian spoke about the key elements of the ten year strategy and a large focus of his talk was on realising the potential for clinical trials research in New Zealand District Health Board hospitals. He also announced the Request for Proposals to enhance clinical trials in New Zealand, a joint funding initiative by the HRC and Ministry. The initiative aims to provide an evidence-base to inform the development of an infrastructure roadmap and operating model to support a sustainable and nationally coordinated clinical trials enterprise in New Zealand, and contribute to improved and more equitable health outcomes for New Zealanders.
